You can optimize the performance of your luxury vehicle in a few different ways. One is by choosing tires that match your needs. You could replace aging tires with identical ones, but tires that better suit your needs could easily fit your budget. Here’s how to find the best tires for your Lexus vehicle.

When Should Tires Be Replaced?

Lexus Wheels

Lexus Wheels

Time and mileage are the key factors to consider when deciding whether to replace your tires. Tires degrade over time and with exposure to UV rays, extreme temperatures, and other hazards, making it wise to replace them after five years regardless of mileage. Tires with damage from road hazards need to be replaced right away, no matter how far they’ve driven.

Mileage guidance varies depending on driving habits, miles driven, and tire specifications. Some tires can reach 60,000 miles, depending on their specifications. Performance tires have a shorter life span in exchange for road-hugging ability.

Uniform Tire Quality Grade specifications for treadwear, traction, and temperature are stamped into the side of tires and provide specs indicating their life span. The higher the treadwear rating, the longer the projected tread life. Traction ratings show-stopping ability in wet conditions, with ratings from highest to lowest specified as AA, A, B, and C. Temperature ratings show durability in extreme heat, with the ratings from highest to lowest indicated as A, B, and C.

What Types of Tires Are Available?

When looking at replacement tires for your Lexus, you have four types to choose from:

Touring and All-Season

Touring and all-season tires perform well in dry, wet, and winter conditions and have a longer tread life than other tires. While they serve your car well throughout the year, they don’t give the stopping power and traction that snow tires can provide.

Performance

Performance tires give a better grip and higher speed ratings, offering better handling in both wet and dry conditions and a sporty feel. Performance tires have a shorter life and reduced quality of ride.

All-Terrain

All-terrain tires can tackle off-road conditions, are durable, and perform well in winter. The tread wears at an acceptable rate, but all-terrain options give less comfort and make more noise on the road.

Snow and Winter

Snow and winter tires are pliable and give good traction due to specialized rubber formulations designed for low temperatures. Tread patterns maximize handling and stopping ability on icy roads.

Tire size is another crucial factor to consider to ensure you have the performance and speedometer accuracy you need. Numbers and letters on the sidewall of a tire show key specifications:

  • Type : P stands for passenger and appears on most tires.
  • Width: Given in millimeters, this indicates the measurement from side to side.
  • Height: This is the height-to-width ratio, or aspect ratio, with lower numbers indicating a faster response when turning.
  • Construction: R is for radial, showing it’s constructed of rubber, fabric, steel, and polyester.
  • Diameter: This indicates the rim size in inches.
  • Load index number: The carrying capacity, with higher numbers indicating a higher capacity.
  • Speed rating letter: This denotes the maximum speed and goes up to 186 mph for high-performance vehicles.

An example tire that fits a 2020 Lexus 350 is the P235-65-R18-106T.

Should I Replace My Tires With the Original Equipment?

It may be tempting to replace your tires with the original equipment your Lexus came out of the factory with. Original-style tires will work fine, but you may want to consider an alternative to those stock tires that were purchased in bulk by the manufacturer based on price and general specifications. Look at other brands and tires that may be better suited to your specific needs.

How Do I Choose the Best Tire?

Balance performance and budget when choosing replacement tires. For example, let’s look at a pre-owned Lexus RX 350 and consider the sample options for budget, mid-range, and higher-priced tires.

Budget

For 18-inch tires, budget-friendly offerings include the Laufenn S Fit AS, which gives a comfortable ride and a long life span. This model performs well in wet conditions but is only rated fair for snow and winter driving. For 20-inch tires, the Kumho Crugen HP71 gives a comfortable ride and a long life span. This model works well in light snow but isn’t recommended for heavy winter conditions.

Mid-Range

For 18-inch and 20-inch tires, mid-range offerings include the Continental CrossContact LX25, which is highly rated by consumers and gives an extended tread life. This tire has excellent ratings in wet conditions but is only rated fair for snow and winter driving. This mid-range tire is recommended because it balances price and performance.

Higher-Priced

For 18-inch and 20-inch tires, higher-priced offerings include the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady model. This tire has a special rubber compound for winter driving but still offers a comfortable ride in all seasons, providing great performance all year round.

Tires Are a Key Maintenance Item

Neglecting necessary maintenance or ignoring warning signs that something is amiss can lead to being stranded or needing significant repairs to correct an issue that could have been an easy fix if caught early. Deferred maintenance can also lead to accidents. Tires need to be in good shape to maintain the safe operation of your vehicle. There are signs of potential problems you can often spot when driving and issues you can see when inspecting your car.

Neglected tires can lead to blowouts, poor steering, and reduced gas mileage. Watch for wobbly or uneven performance that could indicate worn tires. Be sure to have tires rotated as recommended by your owner’s manual and keep your tires properly inflated. Watch for wear like thinning tread or cracks, as well as bulges on the tread or sidewalls. Even new tires can have issues, including road damage or air leaks that can cause excess wear or flats.

Maximize tire life by maintaining the tire pressure that’s specified on the inside of your driver’s door, noting that the tire pressure stamped into your tire is a maximum pressure amount. Rotating tires every 5,000 to 7,000 miles helps maximize the life span and encourages even wear. Front tires tend to wear faster on front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles.

Jerry Lohr left the family farm in South Dakota in the 1960s and took a chance growing vines in the Central Coastal region of California. He selected land with a certain type of soil that was ideal for growing different types of grapes that could be used to produce quality wine. During the 1980s, he discovered that the soil of Paso Robles was perfect for growing varieties of Bordeaux grapes.

He focused his efforts on developing vineyards filled with red grape varieties and built a winery and barreling facilities nearby. All J. Lohr’s red wines come from the Paso Robles vineyards, but it also bottles Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé.

J. Lohr offers guests a tasting experience that includes seasonal and winery-exclusive wines at the Paso Robles location and in San Jose. Reservations are required, and it’s suggested that guests plan for a 60-minute experience. Wine tastings are available Thursday through Monday at Paso Robles and Thursday through Sunday at the J. Lohr San Jose Wine center.

Loma Prieta Winery

Loma Prieta Winery is a boutique winery located in Los Gatos, California, specializing in Pinotage. The winery produces around 3,000 cases of wine each year and was originally founded by Paul and Amy Kemp in 2003. The couple originally produced Pinot Noir but changed course when Paul discovered Pinotage. He proceeded to acquire as many grapes as he could and tore out his Merlot and Cabernet vines. The Pinotage grape is a hybrid developed in the 1930s and is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault.

The winery produces Pinotage across its 52 acres in Los Gatos while also manufacturing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet, and Petite Sirah. It’s currently owned by Chris Arriaga and his daughter Samantha. The tasting room is open Saturday and Sunday afternoons year-round. It’s also open on other days, depending on the season.

When you visit the winery, you’ll be greeted by the sight of Loma Prieta to the southeast and a view of the Monterey Peninsula. There’s also a regulation bocce court available for guests to try their hand at the game. It’s a wonderful place to experience beautiful views and a type of wine that changes the Pinot Noir game.

La Rusticana d’Orsa

Drive up to the gates of La Rusticana d’Orsa and you’ll swear you’ve been transported to Italy, not the Santa Cruz Mountains. The vineyard and winery are owned by Frank and Marilyn Dorsa, a couple who have dedicated their lives to creating an Italian villa and a vineyard and winery that produces five grape varieties, including Merlot, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. These grapes are blended to create an award-winning red table wine.

The vineyard holds different wine tasting events throughout the year, including an annual release party of the latest vintage of its signature wine. Each event has its own theme, such as painting while drinking wine, and is held on the winery’s beautiful grounds. Guests can walk around the property to experience the beautiful gardens and view the vineyards as they sip the signature wine.

Big Dog Vineyards

Big Dog Vineyards are a relative newcomer to the area and the only winery located north of San Jose in the Milpitas Hills. The vineyard itself was established in 1997, while the wine and tasting room opened in 2009. It’s a boutique winery that focuses on small-batch wines pressed by hand.

The vineyard produces red and white wines, including a Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine that uses only Chardonnay grapes and the traditional French méthode champenoise. Other wines include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Zinfandel. The vineyard also offers a selection of dessert wines.

Even though the winery produces a large range of wines, it only puts out around 100 cases of each vintage. Guests can make a tasting reservation to try out menus that include a classic mix of red and white wines, all whites or all reds. Events with live music are held most weekends, and a weekly event known as Sunset Fridays is held so guests can watch the sunset while tasting the wines on offer.

Alamitos Vineyards

Alamitos Vineyards is located in the lower reaches of the mountains in San Jose and is a relatively new winery. One of the principals of the winery was inspired to get into the business by his grandfather’s career as a vintner in Portugal. The vineyards are operated by individuals who have a passion for making wine while applying the latest scientific agricultural techniques to the vines. This yields grapes that embody the passion of the growers and the latest in science to enhance the taste of the wine.

Alamitos Vineyards is a boutique winery that creates small batches of wine that include Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Touriga, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery focuses on grape varieties that grow well in the local soil and can tolerate the microclimate.

Your vehicle’s tires are the point of contact with the road and can suffer a lot of wear and tear over time. Tire integrity is a vital part of safety on the road, and it’s vital to keep them in good condition, no matter what season it is. Regular tire maintenance is a great way to make sure that your Lexus performs at its best even when road conditions are bad and can keep you and your family safe while maintaining the value of your vehicle.

At Lexus of Steven’s Creek, we want to ensure our customers stay safe on the road, and tire maintenance is a big part of this. In this article, we’ll explain why it’s crucial to check your tires regularly and list some signs that your tires might need maintenance or replacement. We also explain how Lexus of Steven’s Creek can help you with all your tire needs.

Why Is Tire Maintenance Important?

Lexus Tires

Lexus Tires

Tire maintenance is one of the most fundamental ways to keep your vehicle safe and functional. Your tires will wear down as you drive, especially if you regularly drive off-road or on abrasive surfaces. This can lead to thinning of the tire walls, making flats and blowouts more likely. These incidents can be costly, dangerous, and inconvenient, and it’s important to make sure that you take care of any issues before taking your family on the road.

Regular maintenance can prevent dangerous incidents on the road, giving you and your family peace of mind and ensuring that your car is in good working order when you need it. It can also help identify issues early before they become more severe and require costly repairs. Although taking your car in for professional maintenance may seem expensive, the savings can add up in the long term.

When Is It Time To Check Your Tires?

While regular maintenance is imperative, it’s also easy to check your tires at home regularly. This is a good habit and can save you unnecessary hassles. When you inspect your tires, start by checking the tread. Next, you can check their pressure. If the tires don’t feel firm or are seriously depressed at the bottom, the pressure is low, and you need to fill them at a gas station or other spot with an air pump.

Deflation may also be a sign that your tire is punctured, which may require replacement or repair by a professional. If your tires aren’t inflating, or if you hear a hissing sound of air escaping, take it into a garage as soon as possible. When inspecting your tires, it’s also important to look for visible damage, including missing chunks of rubber, cracks, or protrusions. These can signify severe damage, and you should have the tires checked immediately. This is especially true if the belts are visible underneath the rubber. You should never drive your vehicle in this condition.

Try to inspect your car’s tires regularly, maybe once a week. If you’re driving on rough surfaces, inspect your tires for damage when you get home. Aside from these simple assessments, it’s essential to get your tires checked by a professional. Slippery road conditions make good tires especially important, so check them before winter arrives and make sure they’re in good condition. Finally, always check your tires whenever you plan to go on a long road trip or if your car is involved in an accident.

Signs That Your Tires Need Maintenance or Replacement

These are some of the primary signs that you should take your car into a garage for a professional inspection:

Old tires

Like many other things, tires have an expiration date, usually no more than ten years from their manufacture date. You can check the age of your tires by finding the four-digit number after the DOT stamping on the side of the tire. The first two numbers represent the week of the tire’s manufacture, and the last two represent the year.

Worn treads

You can easily check the depth of your treads at home by inserting a penny upside down into the grooves. If you can still see the top of Lincoln’s head when you insert the penny, it’s time to replace your tires.

Cracks, bulges, or missing chunks

If your tires show any of these signs, they may have serious structural damage, and driving on them is probably unsafe. You should take your car in for an inspection as soon as possible.

Uneven wear

While checking out your tires, you may notice that some areas are wearing faster than others. This can indicate various things, including a lack of tire rotation, improper pressure, or misalignment. If you notice this, take your car to a mechanic so they can examine the safety of your tires and provide any necessary maintenance.

Low pressure

Besides inspecting your tires visually, you can check their pressure with a gauge at home. Let your tires cool for a couple of hours, remove the valve cap, and press the gauge onto the valve stem until the hissing stops to get your reading. You can then compare that to the manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure.

Each RZ 450E comes with a Spindle Body instead of the signature Lexus spindle grill. For many years, Lexus of Stevens Creek has been offering drivers the finest vehicles and auto services in and near San Jose, California. Today, we’re proud to be the number one new and pre-owned Lexus dealer in Northern California in terms of sales volume. Our success wouldn’t be possible without the support of our customers, and it certainly didn’t happen overnight. Let’s go back in time to see how Lexus of Stevens Creek has evolved over the years.

Last 20 Years of Lexus of Stevens Creek

Lexus of Stevens Creek

Lexus of Stevens Creek

Soon after its founding in 1989, Lexus of Stevens Creek began enjoying great success. By the year 2002, our dealership had been selling more new and pre-owned Lexus vehicles than any other dealer in the Bay Area for 12 straight years. Additionally, we had the honor of being the leading pre-owned Lexus dealer in Northern California for the previous three years. Back then, we were generating gross sales of more than $120 million and hiring over 100 employees.

The same year marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Lexus of Stevens Creek. We joined the Penske Automotive Group through an acquisition, becoming the sixth member of the family of dealerships. This acquisition was particularly significant as it represented the group’s first foray into the automotive retail market in Northern California with the esteemed Lexus brand.

Penske Automotive Group appointed Patrick Kane as vice president and general manager of Lexus of Stevens Creek. At that time, Kane had over 15 years of experience in automotive sales and management with the group. Before assuming this position, he was serving as the general sales manager of Longo Lexus, one of the largest Lexus retail dealerships in the United States. Soon after he took the helm at our dealership, we began to build a strong online presence.

As a Penske Automotive dealership, Lexus of Stevens Creek prospered in the following years, thanks to the patronage and continued loyalty of car buyers in the Bay Area and beyond. To show our appreciation for our customers and local community, we began partnering with several non-profit organizations in 2010. From organizing donation drives to providing scholarships, we’ve engaged in various charitable activities to give back to the local community. To date, we’ve donated more than $800,000 to non-profit organizations in our area. Examples of our community involvement include:

  • Donation drives: Our dealership hosts a donation drive to support a different non-profit organization every two months. To encourage our customers to participate in this program, we offer anyone who contributes a 10% discount on their service bill. In 2018, we donated thousands of items to the needy, including food, clothes, toiletries, and toys.
  • Teen Volunteer Fair: This annual fair takes place in September at our dealership. Each year, more than 1,000 students attend the event to look for community service opportunities with different non-profit organizations.
  • Saturday Fundraiser: Held monthly, the Saturday Fundraiser gives high school students an opportunity to earn $500 for a club or sports team by working four hours at our car wash facility.
  • Volunteer Scholarship: In 2019, 17 students with exemplary academic ability became recipients of the Lexus Volunteer Scholarship Awards. We awarded a total of $10,000 to the top five winners.
  • Complimentary event space rental: Our dealership offers local non-profit organizations complimentary use of our premises for a wide range of events, including fundraisers, board meetings, and training workshops.
  • Community service: At Lexus of Stevens Creek, we encourage our staff members to do their part to make a difference in the local community. Over the years, we’ve helped those in need in many ways, including preparing food for the homeless and making blankets for chemotherapy patients.

For the 2023 model year, the Lexus RX has been fully redesigned from the wheels up to offer drivers in the San Jose area a luxury midsize SUV with stunning style, performance, and versatility, along with enhanced technology. Expected at Lexus of Stevens Creek at the end of 2022, the all-new Lexus RX lineup includes an exciting F Sport Performance model for true driving enthusiasts.

With six trim levels, four newly available powertrains — including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options — and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, there’s a Lexus RX to suit everyone. The new model is 198 pounds lighter, and although it has a longer wheelbase to offer more rear legroom, the RX is the same overall length as the outgoing model. It also offers increased cargo space, with a lower loading height for easier accessibility.

Captivating Exterior Design

2023 Lexus RX

2023 Lexus RX

San Jose drivers can choose the 2023 Lexus RX in six trim levels: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F Sport Handling, and — for the first time in the RX range — the high-powered F Sport Performance model.

With its elegant curves and dynamic lines, the reimagined Lexus RX leaves a distinct impression of power and sophistication. A new interpretation of the signature spindle grille dominates the bold front fascia, while sleek, jewel-like headlights and distinctive, sharply angled daytime running lights draw the eyes to the stylish profile.

From the side, muscular fenders and 19-inch machine-finished wheels evoke a sense of grace and powerful performance. The sculpted rear end features a full-width LED blade taillight that wraps around the sides to emphasize the RX’s wide and low road presence. You can opt for 21-inch wheels to further enhance this stylish SUV’s athletic stance.

New Powertrain Options

For 2023, the RX will be available with four new powertrains. Under the hood of the RX 350 is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to Lexus, the front-wheel-drive RX 350 takes you from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive model can do this in only 7.2 seconds.

The RX 350h comes standard with all-wheel drive and features a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. This combination generates 246 total system horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds, returning up to 33 mpg for combined city and highway driving.

The RX 450h+ is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but Lexus had not revealed the specifics at the time of writing. The manufacturer will share the details nearer to the launch date.

At the top of the lineup is the RX 500h F Sport Performance. This model features a unique and potent hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine with a front electric motor, an 80 kW high-output rear electric motor, and a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain pumps out an impressive 367 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque that gets you to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. It also rewards you with combined gas mileage of up to 26 mpg on the San Jose roads.

All-Wheel-Drive Systems

Available for the RX 350 is an all-wheel-drive system that automatically shifts power between the front and rear axles. Up to 50% of the power can be sent to the rear wheels as required. On RX 350h and RX 450h hybrid models, the powerful rear motor provides near instant torque to the rear wheels for thrilling acceleration when you need it.

Helping you stay in control in the RX 500h F Sport Performance is the advanced Direct4 all-wheel-drive system that transfers optimum power between the axles, with up to 80% power available to the rear wheels. This, along with the rigid chassis and adaptive variable suspension, provides the maximum grip, traction, and acceleration for an exhilarating drive, whatever conditions you encounter.

Futuristic Interior Styling

Inside, the RX’s contemporary, driver-oriented cabin offers a spacious and airy ambiance. All main controls are intuitively positioned for easy access, and the ergonomically shaped steering wheel adds to your comfort. Six interior color options are on offer depending on the trim level, along with available trims crafted from open-pore wood, bamboo, or aluminum. Available interior features include multicolored ambient lighting and a panoramic glass sunroof.

You’ll find a range of unique F Sport details in the RX 500h F Sport Performance, such as perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, suede-trimmed door panels, aluminum sports pedals, and F Sport sill plates.

State-of-the-Art Tech

The RX’s Lexus interface with its intelligent assistant helps keep you connected on the San Jose and Santa Clara roads. You can control most features of the infotainment system with your natural speech, and, over time, the system learns and adapts to your preferences. The cloud-based navigation system provides real-time route information, while the high-resolution 14.1-inch multimedia touch-screen display offers stunning clarity and intuitive control.

To immerse yourself in a sensory musical experience, the Mark Levinson surround sound audio system offers 1,800 watts of power and 21 speakers to envelop you in a three-dimensional soundscape. Meanwhile, a head-up display projects essential information directly onto the windshield to help you keep your eyes on the road.

Lexus Safety System

The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is a comprehensive suite of innovative driver assistance features. It includes all-speed adaptive cruise control with curve speed management, lane departure warning with steering control, an emergency driving stop system, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, junction support, and — new for 2023 — motorcycle detection.

A digital latch system with safe exit assist enables you to effortlessly open the doors but prevents the doors from opening onto passing traffic or cyclists. The available advanced parking system makes for simple parallel parking.

At Lexus of Stevens Creek, we expect the all-new Lexus RX to arrive at the end of the year. Come and visit our conveniently located dealership to see the superb range of Lexus vehicles and discover more about the eagerly awaited 2023 RX models.

Although it’s often overlooked, the windshield wiper fluid is one of the most important liquids in your vehicle. Therefore, you should make sure you always have enough fluid in your car’s wiper fluid reservoir. Checking this is a quick and easy task, but the process may differ from one vehicle to another. Follow this detailed guide to properly check and refill the wiper fluid in your Lexus.

Why Is It Important to Regularly Check Your Windshield Wiper Fluid?

When you drive your Lexus or park it outside, many things can accumulate on your windshield, such as dirt, grime, mud, bug splatters, pollen, and bird droppings. These substances can make it difficult for you to see the road ahead, increasing your chances of getting into an accident. This not only jeopardizes you and your passengers’ safety, but it can also endanger the lives of the motorists and pedestrians around you.

If you have enough wiper fluid in your vehicle, you can easily get rid of the dirt, grime, and debris that gathers on your windshield, keeping it clean and clear. Besides improving your safety, a clean windshield also contributes to a more relaxing and pleasant driving experience. On the other hand, if you run out of wiper fluid, you run the risk of having a smeared or streaked windshield, which can make driving dangerous and stressful.

Another reason why you should check and top up your windshield wiper fluid on a regular basis is because it can help keep your windshield washer pump well-lubricated. When your wiper fluid reservoir is empty, the pump may dry up as well, making it more likely to leak, corrode, or stop working altogether. If you repeatedly turn on your windshield washer system without any fluid inside, it may completely destroy the pump, which is relatively expensive to replace.

When there isn’t enough fluid on the glass, the rubber blades of your wipers will be dragged across a dry surface. This not only results in streaks, but it can also permanently damage your windshield and wipers. Also, it’ll put additional strain on your windshield wiper motor, making it more likely to break down.

How Often Should You Check Your Wiper Fluid Level?

Your windshield wiper fluid is different from your engine oil in that it doesn’t become degraded over time, so you don’t need to replace it at a specific interval. However, you do have to refill your wiper fluid as it gets used. Its beneficial to top up the liquid before it runs out completely. You should check your wiper fluid level once every two months or every time you take your car to the service center for routine maintenance.

How to Check the Wiper Fluid Level in Your Lexus

Checking and topping up the windshield wiper fluid in your Lexus is an easy task that shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. Follow the steps below to get the job done right:

Open the Hood

The windshield washer fluid reservoir is located under the hood of your Lexus vehicle. As such, the first thing you need to do is to open the hood. To do this, pull the hood release lever, which is located under the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. This unlocks the hood and pops it up a few inches. Then, slide your fingers under the hood and move the locking latch to open it fully. Use the prop rod to support the hood.

Find the Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir

In most Lexus models, the windshield washer fluid reservoir is located on the left side of the engine bay. It’s usually white and translucent and has a cap with a wiper symbol similar to the one on your dashboard.

Check and Refill the Wiper Fluid

After you’ve located the reservoir, check to see if it has enough fluid in it. Ideally, the fluid level should be about two inches from the top of the cap. If it isn’t, go ahead and fill the reservoir to that level.

What Type of Wiper Fluid Should You Use?

When you’re refilling your windshield washer reservoir, it’s important to use the right type of fluid. The best wiper fluid for your Lexus depends on your location and personal preference. If the conditions in your area are relatively neutral, standard washer fluid should be sufficient. Also known as general-purpose or all-season fluid, it’s inexpensive and widely available in gas stations, convenience stores and supermarkets. However, if you routinely have to deal with sticky bugs and bird droppings, you can get a formula that’s specially designed for removing these stains. There’s also an anti-fog fluid that can help prevent mist formation.

Bear in mind that you should avoid using water as windshield wiper fluid. This is because water doesn’t have the chemicals that can wash away stubborn dirt and grime. Also, it can develop bacteria in extremely high temperatures, which can pose a health hazard for you and your family.

When Should You Replace Your Windshield Wipers?

Even if you always have enough fluid in your windshield washer reservoir, you may not be able to keep your windshield clean if your windshield wipers aren’t in good condition. Windshield wipers with nicked or torn blades may leave streaks and uncleared sections on your windshield because they allow water to pass through them. If one of your wipers is missing the rubber edge, it can even cause deep scratches on your windshield. Therefore, it’s essential that you regularly replace your windshield wipers, preferably once every six to 12 months or three to six windshield washer fill-ups.

If you own a Lexus in San Jose, California, and need to replace your windshield wipers, we invite you to stop by Lexus of Stevens Creek.
