Lexus Stevens Creek

For many years, Lexus of Stevens Creek has been offering drivers the finest vehicles and auto services in and near San Jose, California. Today, we’re proud to be the number one new and pre-owned Lexus dealer in Northern California in terms of sales volume. Our success wouldn’t be possible without the support of our customers, and it certainly didn’t happen overnight. Let’s go back in time to see how Lexus of Stevens Creek has evolved over the years.

Last 20 Years of Lexus of Stevens Creek

Lexus of Stevens Creek

Lexus of Stevens Creek

Soon after its founding in 1989, Lexus of Stevens Creek began enjoying great success. By the year 2002, our dealership had been selling more new and pre-owned Lexus vehicles than any other dealer in the Bay Area for 12 straight years. Additionally, we had the honor of being the leading pre-owned Lexus dealer in Northern California for the previous three years. Back then, we were generating gross sales of more than $120 million and hiring over 100 employees.

The same year marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Lexus of Stevens Creek. We joined the Penske Automotive Group through an acquisition, becoming the sixth member of the family of dealerships. This acquisition was particularly significant as it represented the group’s first foray into the automotive retail market in Northern California with the esteemed Lexus brand.

Penske Automotive Group appointed Patrick Kane as vice president and general manager of Lexus of Stevens Creek. At that time, Kane had over 15 years of experience in automotive sales and management with the group. Before assuming this position, he was serving as the general sales manager of Longo Lexus, one of the largest Lexus retail dealerships in the United States. Soon after he took the helm at our dealership, we began to build a strong online presence.

As a Penske Automotive dealership, Lexus of Stevens Creek prospered in the following years, thanks to the patronage and continued loyalty of car buyers in the Bay Area and beyond. To show our appreciation for our customers and local community, we began partnering with several non-profit organizations in 2010. From organizing donation drives to providing scholarships, we’ve engaged in various charitable activities to give back to the local community. To date, we’ve donated more than $800,000 to non-profit organizations in our area. Examples of our community involvement include:

  • Donation drives: Our dealership hosts a donation drive to support a different non-profit organization every two months. To encourage our customers to participate in this program, we offer anyone who contributes a 10% discount on their service bill. In 2018, we donated thousands of items to the needy, including food, clothes, toiletries, and toys.
  • Teen Volunteer Fair: This annual fair takes place in September at our dealership. Each year, more than 1,000 students attend the event to look for community service opportunities with different non-profit organizations.
  • Saturday Fundraiser: Held monthly, the Saturday Fundraiser gives high school students an opportunity to earn $500 for a club or sports team by working four hours at our car wash facility.
  • Volunteer Scholarship: In 2019, 17 students with exemplary academic ability became recipients of the Lexus Volunteer Scholarship Awards. We awarded a total of $10,000 to the top five winners.
  • Complimentary event space rental: Our dealership offers local non-profit organizations complimentary use of our premises for a wide range of events, including fundraisers, board meetings, and training workshops.
  • Community service: At Lexus of Stevens Creek, we encourage our staff members to do their part to make a difference in the local community. Over the years, we’ve helped those in need in many ways, including preparing food for the homeless and making blankets for chemotherapy patients.

With our extensive community involvement and unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity, Lexus of Stevens Creek has won the hearts of many car buyers in the Bay Area. This has helped us achieve greater success and growth in recent years. In 2019, we became the top-selling dealership for both new and pre-owned Lexus vehicles in Northern California, according to sales data from Lexus. In addition, we’re home to the largest Lexus inventory in the region. Thanks to your support and loyalty, Lexus of Stevens Creek has come a long way over the past 20 years.

For the 2023 model year, the Lexus RX has been fully redesigned from the wheels up to offer drivers in the San Jose area a luxury midsize SUV with stunning style, performance, and versatility, along with enhanced technology. Expected at Lexus of Stevens Creek at the end of 2022, the all-new Lexus RX lineup includes an exciting F Sport Performance model for true driving enthusiasts.

With six trim levels, four newly available powertrains — including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options — and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, there’s a Lexus RX to suit everyone. The new model is 198 pounds lighter, and although it has a longer wheelbase to offer more rear legroom, the RX is the same overall length as the outgoing model. It also offers increased cargo space, with a lower loading height for easier accessibility.

Captivating Exterior Design

2023 Lexus RX

2023 Lexus RX

San Jose drivers can choose the 2023 Lexus RX in six trim levels: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F Sport Handling, and — for the first time in the RX range — the high-powered F Sport Performance model.

With its elegant curves and dynamic lines, the reimagined Lexus RX leaves a distinct impression of power and sophistication. A new interpretation of the signature spindle grille dominates the bold front fascia, while sleek, jewel-like headlights and distinctive, sharply angled daytime running lights draw the eyes to the stylish profile.

From the side, muscular fenders and 19-inch machine-finished wheels evoke a sense of grace and powerful performance. The sculpted rear end features a full-width LED blade taillight that wraps around the sides to emphasize the RX’s wide and low road presence. You can opt for 21-inch wheels to further enhance this stylish SUV’s athletic stance.

New Powertrain Options

For 2023, the RX will be available with four new powertrains. Under the hood of the RX 350 is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to Lexus, the front-wheel-drive RX 350 takes you from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive model can do this in only 7.2 seconds.

The RX 350h comes standard with all-wheel drive and features a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. This combination generates 246 total system horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds, returning up to 33 mpg for combined city and highway driving.

The RX 450h+ is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but Lexus had not revealed the specifics at the time of writing. The manufacturer will share the details nearer to the launch date.

At the top of the lineup is the RX 500h F Sport Performance. This model features a unique and potent hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine with a front electric motor, an 80 kW high-output rear electric motor, and a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain pumps out an impressive 367 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque that gets you to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. It also rewards you with combined gas mileage of up to 26 mpg on the San Jose roads.

All-Wheel-Drive Systems

Available for the RX 350 is an all-wheel-drive system that automatically shifts power between the front and rear axles. Up to 50% of the power can be sent to the rear wheels as required. On RX 350h and RX 450h hybrid models, the powerful rear motor provides near instant torque to the rear wheels for thrilling acceleration when you need it.

Helping you stay in control in the RX 500h F Sport Performance is the advanced Direct4 all-wheel-drive system that transfers optimum power between the axles, with up to 80% power available to the rear wheels. This, along with the rigid chassis and adaptive variable suspension, provides the maximum grip, traction, and acceleration for an exhilarating drive, whatever conditions you encounter.

Futuristic Interior Styling

Inside, the RX’s contemporary, driver-oriented cabin offers a spacious and airy ambiance. All main controls are intuitively positioned for easy access, and the ergonomically shaped steering wheel adds to your comfort. Six interior color options are on offer depending on the trim level, along with available trims crafted from open-pore wood, bamboo, or aluminum. Available interior features include multicolored ambient lighting and a panoramic glass sunroof.

You’ll find a range of unique F Sport details in the RX 500h F Sport Performance, such as perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, suede-trimmed door panels, aluminum sports pedals, and F Sport sill plates.

State-of-the-Art Tech

The RX’s Lexus interface with its intelligent assistant helps keep you connected on the San Jose and Santa Clara roads. You can control most features of the infotainment system with your natural speech, and, over time, the system learns and adapts to your preferences. The cloud-based navigation system provides real-time route information, while the high-resolution 14.1-inch multimedia touch-screen display offers stunning clarity and intuitive control.

To immerse yourself in a sensory musical experience, the Mark Levinson surround sound audio system offers 1,800 watts of power and 21 speakers to envelop you in a three-dimensional soundscape. Meanwhile, a head-up display projects essential information directly onto the windshield to help you keep your eyes on the road.

Lexus Safety System

The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is a comprehensive suite of innovative driver assistance features. It includes all-speed adaptive cruise control with curve speed management, lane departure warning with steering control, an emergency driving stop system, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, junction support, and — new for 2023 — motorcycle detection.

A digital latch system with safe exit assist enables you to effortlessly open the doors but prevents the doors from opening onto passing traffic or cyclists. The available advanced parking system makes for simple parallel parking.

At Lexus of Stevens Creek, we expect the all-new Lexus RX to arrive at the end of the year. Come and visit our conveniently located dealership to see the superb range of Lexus vehicles and discover more about the eagerly awaited 2023 RX models.

Although it’s often overlooked, the windshield wiper fluid is one of the most important liquids in your vehicle. Therefore, you should make sure you always have enough fluid in your car’s wiper fluid reservoir. Checking this is a quick and easy task, but the process may differ from one vehicle to another. Follow this detailed guide to properly check and refill the wiper fluid in your Lexus.

Why Is It Important to Regularly Check Your Windshield Wiper Fluid?

Rain Rain Go Away by Basheer Tome is licensed with CC BY 2.0

When you drive your Lexus or park it outside, many things can accumulate on your windshield, such as dirt, grime, mud, bug splatters, pollen, and bird droppings. These substances can make it difficult for you to see the road ahead, increasing your chances of getting into an accident. This not only jeopardizes you and your passengers’ safety, but it can also endanger the lives of the motorists and pedestrians around you.

If you have enough wiper fluid in your vehicle, you can easily get rid of the dirt, grime, and debris that gathers on your windshield, keeping it clean and clear. Besides improving your safety, a clean windshield also contributes to a more relaxing and pleasant driving experience. On the other hand, if you run out of wiper fluid, you run the risk of having a smeared or streaked windshield, which can make driving dangerous and stressful.

Another reason why you should check and top up your windshield wiper fluid on a regular basis is because it can help keep your windshield washer pump well-lubricated. When your wiper fluid reservoir is empty, the pump may dry up as well, making it more likely to leak, corrode, or stop working altogether. If you repeatedly turn on your windshield washer system without any fluid inside, it may completely destroy the pump, which is relatively expensive to replace.

When there isn’t enough fluid on the glass, the rubber blades of your wipers will be dragged across a dry surface. This not only results in streaks, but it can also permanently damage your windshield and wipers. Also, it’ll put additional strain on your windshield wiper motor, making it more likely to break down.

How Often Should You Check Your Wiper Fluid Level?

Your windshield wiper fluid is different from your engine oil in that it doesn’t become degraded over time, so you don’t need to replace it at a specific interval. However, you do have to refill your wiper fluid as it gets used. Its beneficial to top up the liquid before it runs out completely. You should check your wiper fluid level once every two months or every time you take your car to the service center for routine maintenance.

How to Check the Wiper Fluid Level in Your Lexus

Checking and topping up the windshield wiper fluid in your Lexus is an easy task that shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. Follow the steps below to get the job done right:

Open the Hood

The windshield washer fluid reservoir is located under the hood of your Lexus vehicle. As such, the first thing you need to do is to open the hood. To do this, pull the hood release lever, which is located under the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. This unlocks the hood and pops it up a few inches. Then, slide your fingers under the hood and move the locking latch to open it fully. Use the prop rod to support the hood.

Find the Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir

In most Lexus models, the windshield washer fluid reservoir is located on the left side of the engine bay. It’s usually white and translucent and has a cap with a wiper symbol similar to the one on your dashboard.

Check and Refill the Wiper Fluid

After you’ve located the reservoir, check to see if it has enough fluid in it. Ideally, the fluid level should be about two inches from the top of the cap. If it isn’t, go ahead and fill the reservoir to that level.

What Type of Wiper Fluid Should You Use?

When you’re refilling your windshield washer reservoir, it’s important to use the right type of fluid. The best wiper fluid for your Lexus depends on your location and personal preference. If the conditions in your area are relatively neutral, standard washer fluid should be sufficient. Also known as general-purpose or all-season fluid, it’s inexpensive and widely available in gas stations, convenience stores and supermarkets. However, if you routinely have to deal with sticky bugs and bird droppings, you can get a formula that’s specially designed for removing these stains. There’s also an anti-fog fluid that can help prevent mist formation.

Bear in mind that you should avoid using water as windshield wiper fluid. This is because water doesn’t have the chemicals that can wash away stubborn dirt and grime. Also, it can develop bacteria in extremely high temperatures, which can pose a health hazard for you and your family.

When Should You Replace Your Windshield Wipers?

Even if you always have enough fluid in your windshield washer reservoir, you may not be able to keep your windshield clean if your windshield wipers aren’t in good condition. Windshield wipers with nicked or torn blades may leave streaks and uncleared sections on your windshield because they allow water to pass through them. If one of your wipers is missing the rubber edge, it can even cause deep scratches on your windshield. Therefore, it’s essential that you regularly replace your windshield wipers, preferably once every six to 12 months or three to six windshield washer fill-ups.

If you own a Lexus in San Jose, California, and need to replace your windshield wipers, we invite you to stop by Lexus of Stevens Creek. Our San Jose dealership has a well-stocked parts department that can provide you with top-quality OEM Lexus windshield wipers that deliver premium performance. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose is the largest city within the Bay Area, offering everything from architectural landmarks and a historic district to major scientific and technological districts. It hasn’t always been like this, though. The city has a long history full of culture, innovation, and serious growth. Our Lexus of Stevens Creek team would like to provide you with a brief history of San Jose and why we’re proud to represent the area as your premier Lexus dealership.

An Early History

The front entrance to a building in Downtown San Jose

Long before the Spanish came to California, thousands of Native Americans called the San Jose area their home. A permanent European presence only came in 1770 with the founding of Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo and the Presidio of Monterey 60 miles to the south. During expeditions to explore the Sacramento River Delta and the East Bay,  an explorer named Don Pedro Fages passed through the area. Fages went on to become the Lieutenant Governor of the Californias under Gaspar de Portolá.

The founding of Mission San Carlos led to a 1775 expedition north of Monterey, where Juan Bautista de Anza traveled with a smaller group. His mission was to prove that there was a land route from Mexico to upper California, which he was able to prove. While he did leave the area before any actual settlements were erected, his name can still be found throughout the city.

The Founding of San Jose

On November 29, 1777, Jose Joaquin Moraga founded the pueblo of San Jose in honor of Saint Joseph. It was the first upper Californian pueblo that was not associated with a military post or a mission. The current intersection of Taylor Street and Guadalupe Parkway is where the original pueblo was located. In 1797, the pueblo was moved to what is now the Downtown San Jose area in what surrounds the Pueblo Plaza. In the following years, Mexican Rancho Land Grants secured the lands now considered San Jose, California.

The First Major California Mining Operation

In 1845, Andres Castillero began a mining operation in south San Jose. The area was rich in ore and was used to produce mercury. In 1846, the name was changed to the New Almaden mine and quickly became a significant source of mercury. This was used to create amalgam, which was used during gold mining. The New Almaden mine surrounding the hills of San Jose became more lucrative than any gold mine in California and was the largest mercury mine in North America.

The First Incorporated City in California

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo at the end of the Mexican-American war ceded California to the United States in 1848. By 1850, California was officially a US state, with San Jose as its capital and first incorporated city. Soon after, in 1857, the first higher education public institution was founded and quickly relocated to San Jose. It became known as California State University and is the oldest state school.

Becoming Silicon Valley

After World War II, veterans and soldiers began settling and building in San Jose. With this population increase came the production of ports for goods and labor. Several major industries found in the area were military-based electronics and aerospace companies, thus beginning the shift from farming to boosting plant growth with electricity. An early silicon transistor company spawned a series of high-tech companies within the area, leading to a reputation for being innovative. This led to the area being referred to as “Silicon Valley” by journalist Don Hoefler.

William Hewlett and David Packard created the iconic Hewlett Packard namesake here in Silicon Valley in 1939. Since then, it has been known as an area where humble origins could blossom into something huge. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak anchored the term Silicon Valley into place when the first Apple computer was created in a local Los Altos garage.

Living in the Bay Area certainly has its perks, including year-round sunshine, awe-inspiring redwood forests, and a booming tech industry. One of the best parts of living in Northern California is access to a variety of world cultures, thanks to the diversity of the region. While many people associate California with sushi, Mexican, and organic cuisine, the San Jose area is actually home to an impressive array of Middle Eastern restaurants. With plenty of options to choose from, it’s helpful to know what locals believe to be the top Middle Eastern food spots in the area.

Our dedicated team members here at Lexus of Stevens Creek have put together this list of four of the top Middle Eastern food spots in the San Jose area. With this guide, you can feel confident when choosing the perfect place next time a pita or falafel craving hits.

1. Gulzaar Halaal

The first Middle Eastern restaurant on our list is Gulzaar Halaal, located right here in San Jose, California. If you’re looking for a place that has an extensive menu with vegetarian accommodations, this might be the perfect spot for you. Their menu dedicates an entire section to “veggie specialties” with dishes including fried eggplant, a spiced cauliflower and potato meal called aloo gobi masala, vegetable samosas, and a sandwich made with fresh avocado, tomato, cucumber, olives, and a tangy dressing.

This family-owned restaurant also has plenty of meat specialties on the menu. Some of their most popular dishes include beef kabob with biryani rice, chicken tikka masala, and wraps made with beef and chicken kabob. If you’re interested in trying a regional beverage, consider ordering their mango lassi, which is a rich blend of mangoes, yogurt, and cardamom. Classic Middle Eastern desserts like rice pudding and flaky baklava are also available to round out your meal on a sweet note.

2. Stone Stew Restaurant

The next spot on our list of the top Middle Eastern restaurants in the San Jose area is Stone Stew Restaurant. They specialize in Persian cuisine, with the restaurant’s namesake attributed to the dizi, or stone crocks, where they serve many of their trademark stews. Stone Stew has an unassuming location, as it’s connected to a Middle Eastern market that you pass through on your way to the restaurant. Authentic cultural decor lines every inch of the location’s walls, truly immersing you in your Persian dining experience.

Before indulging in your main course, consider sampling some of the restaurant’s appetizers, like their homemade hummus or a fresh house salad. Some popular menu items at Stone Stew Restaurant include salmon fish kabobs, a stone stew made with beef shank and garbanzo beans, and an assortment of other Persian stews made with ingredients such as mushrooms, eggplant, and yellow peas. They offer a variety of rice dishes you can pair with chicken, lamb chops, beef kabobs, or filets. No Persian meal is complete without a delicious cup of tea, which you can order in a pot that serves two.

Location: 4233 Moorpark Ave, San Jose, CA

3. Falafel’s Drive-In

You can’t talk about Middle Eastern cuisine in San Jose without mentioning Falafel’s Drive-In. This charming drive-in restaurant opened in 1966 when its owners immigrated to San Jose and wanted to create a spot that offered healthy and delicious Middle Eastern cuisine to the community, along with American classics like hamburgers, hot dogs, and onion rings. Falafel’s Drive-In is a great spot for those searching for hearty vegetarian options, with a variety of falafel dishes. Consider trying other Middle Eastern cuisine classics like hummus, tabbouleh salad, or warm pita bread to accompany your meal.

Along with their extensive savory menu, Falafel’s has its own assortment of sweet treats to cap off your delicious meal. You can try one of their iconic shakes made from non-fat milk and low-fat ice cream with flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pineapple, or their most famous fresh banana shake. To transport your taste buds back to the 1960s, consider trying one of the malted shakes made from the same flavors. If you’re looking for a more authentic dessert, try one of their refreshing yogurt drinks made with fresh fruit, yogurt, and mint.

Location: 2301 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose, CA

4. Sajj Mediterranean

The final spot on our list of the top Middle Eastern cuisine in San Jose is Sajj Mediterranean, a farm-to-table restaurant that specializes in easy-to-eat wraps and bowls full of Middle Eastern flavors. Your culinary experience at Sajj begins when you choose your protein from a selection featuring falafel, chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, chicken kabob, or pomegranate chicken. Next, you’ll pick either a pita bread, wrap, salad bowl, couscous bowl, or rice bowl to enjoy with your main protein.

After choosing your protein and base, you’ll pick a luscious spread to drizzle over your bowl, choosing either hummus, garlic sauce, or tzatziki. Finally, you can select from a long list of toppings to add extra flavor to your meal, including garbanzo beans, sumac-seasoned cauliflower, arugula, tomato-cucumber salad, feta cheese, and tahini sauce, among others. Take your meal to the next level with one of their side dishes, such as french fries, pita bread, lentil soup, or falafel. If you have a sweet tooth, you definitely want to try their chocolate hummus with cinnamon chips.
