The 2024 Lexus TX is replacing the RX-L three-row SUV in the exciting new Lexus lineup. This new model is the ideal family carrier, as the 2024 Lexus TX third-row seating provides room for up to seven passengers as well as generous cargo space. It boasts high-quality materials, a choice of gas, hybrid, and plug-in powertrains, and a quiet, comfortable ride.

In this article, our team at Lexus of Stevens Creek in San Jose, California, takes a closer look at the 2024 Lexus TX. We’ll explore what’s new for the 2024 model year, and we’ll cover the specs, price, exterior design, and interior comfort you can expect. We’ll also explore its various features, including its technology and safety, and where you can take one for a test drive. By the end of the guide, we’ll help you decide if the 2024 Lexus TX is the ideal SUV for you and your family.

What’s New?

The previous RX-L didn’t rate highly for spaciousness in the rear. In contrast, the 2024 Lexus TX is new and improved. It offers much more space in the back, with a third row of generous seating. It also comes with hybrid and gasoline powertrains, including a plug-in. There are more trim levels to choose from, including the TX 350 Luxury, which has more upmarket features. There’s also the revved-up TX 550h+ with its 404-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Exterior Design

The luxurious new Lexus TX is based on the Grand Highlander and features a similar boxy look with 20- to 22-inch wheels. Lexus has designed the front end for enhanced aerodynamics and engine cooling. It boasts L-shaped headlights with a light bar and a blacked-out D pillar that makes it look as though the roof is floating in the air. It also has an updated grille, a throwback to Lexus’ earlier models.

It comes with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The hybrid TX 500h is the midrange Lexus TX. It, too, boasts a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It pairs with an electric motor to deliver 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It has a six-speed automatic transmission, comes standard with all-wheel drive, and is available only in the F SPORT Performance Premium and Luxury trims.

The plug-in hybrid TX 550h+ is the most potent and the top-of-the-range Lexus TX. It has a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a plug-in hybrid system with a continuously variable automatic transmission that delivers 404 hp. All-wheel drive is standard. The battery can power the three-row SUV for about 33 miles before recharging. Lexus estimates that fuel economy ranges from 21 to 30 mpg combined.

Interior Comfort

We love the third-row seating and interior features of the 2024 Lexus TX. It can comfortably seat six with the optional row of captain’s chairs. The second-row bench seat configuration can seat up to seven passengers across the three rows. Power-folding and sliding doors make it easy to gain access to the back rows. Seating aside, Lexus has also thoughtfully designed this SUV for families. It caters to all passengers regardless of whether they sit in the front or the rear.

The interior adds a pop of luxury to this functional carrier, coming in three different color schemes: birch, peppercorn, and black. Every row has its specific storage space, and cargo space is generous, making it the ideal car for longer journeys. You’ll find 20.2 cubic feet behind the third row or up to 97 cubic feet with the back rows folded. Other luxuries include a power-adjustable steering column, heated front seats, and mood lighting. Opt for the available leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and heated steering wheel for that little extra.

Features and Technology

The TX is the ideal daily driver for getting around San Jose and features intuitive and user-friendly technology. The cabin has three power outlets and seven USB ports, providing charging and connectivity for all. Regardless of trim, each SUV comes with a responsive 14-inch infotainment display. It provides over-the-air updates and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The infotainment system pairs with a 12.3-inch digital gauge display. Other features include an in-dash navigation system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and an available head-up display. Opt for the 21-inch Mark Levinson premium surround-sound stereo system if you want to pump music on your drives.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Technology

Safety is a top priority for Lexus. All TX models come standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. It includes advanced driver-assistance features to keep you safe on the road, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection. It also boasts an advanced driving-assistance system that alerts you if a person or object gets too close. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety haven’t done a crash test yet on the 2024 TX.
