Pizza California

Tony Brierly’s lifelong love of pizza led to the creation of Pizza California in 1997. Tony opened his restaurant with the goal of becoming “a fixture in the community for families, friends and even the local workforce.” The signature menu includes a variety of distinctive flavors. The Steakhouse pizza is brushed with white truffle oil and piled with steak, spinach, mushrooms, and balsamic roasted onions. In the Westerner, you’ll find barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro.

Pizza California offers a gluten-free Calipower crust with any pizza, though you should note that the crust may still come into contact with wheat flour in the kitchen. Vegan diners can order the West Coast Vegan pizza featuring Daiya vegan cheese, mushrooms, shaved garlic, tomatoes, olives, and fresh basil. With over a dozen pizzas on the menu, there’s something for everyone. You can even build your own pie from a selection of 22 toppings, five sauces, and four cheeses. Pizza California carries a selection of craft beers as well. You can dine in or order pickup or carryout.

Cicero’s Pizza

Cicero’s Pizza uses a longstanding family recipe that originated in Niagara Falls, New York. This family-owned and operated pizzeria dates to 1968. Though it’s changed locations several times, it remains a San Jose staple. Cicero’s Special comes with olives, mushrooms, salami, and pepperoni. You’ll also find a selection of other signature pizzas, including the Hawaiian Delight with ham and pineapple, the Spicy Vegetarian with jalapenos, onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers, and more.

Cicero’s is so busy that it’s best to order online rather than by phone. You can dine in, order takeout, or get delivery from Cicero’s through Doordash or Waiter.com.

For a spicy kick, the Diavola features salami, chili flakes, roasted bell peppers, and garlic. The Chicken Bacon pizza is a hearty pick with ample flavor coming from caramelized onions, chili flakes, and chopped basil. If you like things sweet, try the Pearzola with gorgonzola, pear, arugula, and balsamic vinegar.

The menu also includes salad and garlic bread to round out your meal. Stop in on the weekend between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and you can even enjoy the elusive Brunch Pizza. This is also a great place for gourmet specialty pies.

SOH Pizza

SOH stands for slice of homage, but from the rave reviews, it could easily be slice of heaven. These thoughtfully crafted pizzas use only the best ingredients with mouthwatering results. The SOH Pizza menu features a variety of distinctive Detroit-style pizzas that are baked in a steel pan to get a rich caramelized cheese crust. The sauce is added after the pizza has been baked and applied in two lines that resemble tire tracks in homage to the automobile industry.

You can get a Detroit-style pizza with a variety of toppings. The Greek features red onions, marinated artichokes, kalamata olives, green bell peppers, and feta cheese. The popular Spicy D comes topped with cup and char pepperoni, bacon, sausage, red onions, green bell peppers, jalapenos, black olives, and red chili flakes.

If you’re not in the mood for a Detroit-style pie, you can also order your pizza Sicilian style. This pizza crust is aged for five days, then placed in a cast iron pan to age for another 12 hours so you get a thick crust with a crispy outer layer and airy center. Try a rosa bacon Sicilian with a ranch base, pepperoni, bacon, arugula, and cherry tomatoes for a rich, distinctive flavor. You can dine in or order delivery or pickup online.
